Open Role
Cooling Systems Engineer
About the Role
OLAC uses rapid, repeated compression cycles to accelerate launch vehicles — generating significant thermal loads that must be managed precisely. As our Cooling Systems Engineer, you'll design and validate the thermal management systems that keep OLAC operating safely and reliably across its full launch cadence.
What You'll Do
- Design thermal management and heat dissipation systems for the OLAC pneumatic assembly
- Model and simulate heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and cooling performance using CFD tools
- Select appropriate materials, fluids, and cooling architectures for high-cycle-fatigue environments
- Collaborate with mechanical and structural engineers on integrated system design
- Develop test plans and support physical validation of cooling system prototypes
- Document findings for inclusion in engineering white papers and patent filings
Skills Needed
- Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Chemical Engineering with a focus on thermodynamics
- Hands-on experience with thermal systems design, heat exchangers, or fluid cooling loops
- Proficiency in CFD tools (ANSYS Fluent, OpenFOAM, or equivalent)
- Familiarity with high-pressure pneumatic or hydraulic systems is a strong asset
- Detail-oriented, with strong documentation and analytical skills
