Open Role
Mechanical Engineer
About the Role
Space Launch Technologies is developing OLAC — a ground-based compressed-air orbital launch system with a global PCT patent. As a Mechanical Engineer, you'll work directly on the physical design and structural validation of the OLAC system, from 300:1 scale prototype to full-scale hardware.
What You'll Do
- Design and iterate mechanical components using CAD software (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or equivalent)
- Run structural stress analyses and interpret FEA simulation outputs
- Collaborate with the CFD and propulsion teams on aerodynamic and thermal load cases
- Support prototype fabrication, testing, and documentation
- Contribute to engineering white papers and investor technical materials
- Work with manufacturing partners to bring designs from simulation to hardware
Skills Needed
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks, Fusion 360) and FEA tools (ANSYS, Abaqus)
- Understanding of structural dynamics, materials science, and manufacturing processes
- Experience with rapid prototyping and iterative hardware development
- Aerospace or compressed-air systems experience is a strong asset
